However, if this is your first Georgette Heyer book you want to read, I suggest you read one of her other stand alone-books, such as The Grand Sophie, first. ![]() To all Georgette Heyer fans, this is a must read. By the late 1960s, what had been widely heralded as the best qualified, best-trained army in US history was descending into crisis as the Vietnam War raged. So if you really want to get into the historical frenzy, I highly recommend this book. But I do recommend it as a must-read to all those historical novel fans. Not because I did not enjoy it, but because it was a bit slow in some parts. In some parts Barbara was somewhat exasperating, since she didn’t realise what she truly wanted in life, but the story came to a happy ending! The story unfolds satisfactorily and let me just say, it is worth the read. It is the fourth book in the Alistair-Audley series.
